Two things you should do to take care of your mental health in the pandemic
In March 2020, the world froze over most of the planet, and
the lockdown and restrictions to combat COVID-19 have dramatically changed our
daily routine. New work published in the Periodical of Sleep Research,
involving 7,517 adults from many countries surveyed in 2020, shows that during
those months, the average level of sleep quality, superiority of life, physical
activity and productivity deteriorated. In addition, the average time spent in
front of screens has been significantly increased and the time spent outdoors
has been reduced .
The researchers found that the greatest reduction in time
spent outdoors and in daylight was closely associated with poor well-being and
trouble falling asleep. "Our results show that strategies to improve
well-being under social constraints should promote more daylight and better
sleep," said Maria Corman, a researcher at Ariel University in Israel and
lead author of the study.
